Southern California's third annual Hula &
Chant Competition at the Bren Events Center on the
University of California Irvine campus in Irvine, CA.
Performances will be during the Labor Day weekend August
29, 30, & 31, 1997.
This year's theme feature's the
Keiki's. We will be sponsoring a variety of Keiki
oriented workshops and special presentations. No matter
what age you are, we know you will be glad you attended
our event.
Our Competition will continue to
present the Oli, Kahiko (Ancient) and 'Auana
(Contemporary) categories. Our judges are respected and
recognized for their contribution to the quality of our
competition. It is our goal to continue to enhance the
halaus participating, to grow and mature in their
knowledge, interpretation, and presentation of their
cultural language and dance.
Na Mamo wants to create an avenue for
the people living and visiting Southern California to
enjoy their performances and gain an appreciation of and
acceptance of our beautiful Hawaiian culture through
music, dance, voice, arts, crafts, and foods.
Come and join us in a beautiful
weekend of Hawaiiana. If you need flyers or have any
questions call (714) 838-8161 and leave your name,
address, phone number and detailed message and we will
get back to you right away.
