1996 WAC TOURNAMENT
Volleyball in Grand Style!
The Western Athletic Conference proudly presents the 1996 WAC
Volleyball Championship Tournament, Nov. 26-30, at the MGM Grand
Garden arena in Las Vegas. This tournament is an opportunity for
volleyball fans to part of conference history as the WAC sponsors
its first postseason volleyball championship.
The tournament will feature 12 of the 16 WAC teams in a
seeded, single-elimination format showcasing some of the finest
NCAA Division I women's volleyball talent in the nation.
The first-round matches will be played Nov. 26, with the
quarterfinals Nov. 27, the semi-finals Nov. 29, and the champions
match Nov. 30. The top four seeds will receive first-round byes
and will begin competition Nov. 27.
The MGM Grand Garden is a 15,000 - seat facility that will be
reconfigured to hold 7,000 WAC volleyball fans. It is part of the
world's largest hotel complete - the massive MGM Grand in Las
Vegas. The MGM Grand Hotel will also serve as the tournament
headquarters for WAC teams, fans and media.
WAC volleyball teams competing in the newly-expanded league
include: Air Force, Brigham Young, Colorado State, Fresno State,
Hawai`i, UNLV, New Mexico, Rice, San Diego State, San Jose State,
SMU, TCU, UTEP, Tulsa, Utah and Wyoming.
All Tournament Pass $30, Single-Session Tickets $8
MGM Grand One Stop line ticket & hotel
Special rate of $89 per night is being offered to WAC fans
attending the volleyball tournament by requesting the WAC
Volleyball Champion Package.
